Installation Guide
This guide walks you through setting up your Securtea account and connecting it to your Microsoft 365 environment.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- A Microsoft 365 tenant with Global Administrator access
- Permission to create Azure App Registrations
- A Securtea account (sign up at securtea.io)
Step 1: Create Your Organization
- Sign in to your Securtea account at app.securtea.io
- Click Create Organization in the dashboard
- Enter your organization name and slug (e.g.,
acme-corp) - Select your subscription plan
Step 2: Register Azure Application
To connect Securtea to your Microsoft 365 tenant, you need to register an Azure application:
- Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Microsoft Graph
- Click Register New App
- Follow the guided setup:
- Sign in with your Global Administrator account
- Grant the required permissions
- Copy the Application ID and Client Secret
Required Permissions
Securtea requires the following Microsoft Graph API permissions:
- Directory.Read.All
- Organization.Read.All
- Policy.Read.All
- SecurityEvents.Read.All
Step 3: Verify Connection
After registering your app:
- Click Test Connection in the integrations settings
- Verify all permissions are granted correctly
- Check that your organization's Microsoft 365 data is accessible
Step 4: Run Your First Assessment
Now you're ready to assess your compliance:
- Navigate to Assessments in the dashboard
- Click New Assessment
- Select a framework (e.g., CIS Microsoft 365 Foundations Benchmark)
- Click Run Assessment
The assessment will take a few minutes to complete. You'll receive a notification when it's ready.
Troubleshooting
Permission Issues
If you encounter permission errors:
- Ensure you signed in with a Global Administrator account
- Check that all required permissions are granted in Azure Portal
- Wait a few minutes for permissions to propagate
Connection Test Fails
If the connection test fails:
- Verify your Application ID and Client Secret are correct
- Ensure the app registration is in the same tenant as your Microsoft 365 environment
- Check Azure Portal for any conditional access policies blocking the connection
